“Other people’s opinion of you does not have to become your reality.”
— Les Brown, Live Your Dreams
This quotation reminds me of how deeply other people’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can impact our sense of self—especially during adolescence. Young people often carry experiences from the past that show up in how they think, feel, and act today.
This is why I take a collaborative, compassionate approach when working with adolescents and their families. Together, we explore ways to stay grounded through mindfulness, while practicing self-awareness and nonjudgmental attitudes toward ourselves and others.
My goal is to help adolescents build confidence, emotional regulation, and a stronger sense of who they are, while also supporting parents in better understanding and connecting with their child. I’m especially passionate about working with adolescents and individuals from historically marginalized communities. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and affirming space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and empowered in their healing journey.
I’m a Temporary Master’s Limited Psychologist (TMLP) and proud graduate of Western Michigan University. As a Black woman born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, I bring a culturally grounded and empathetic approach to the therapeutic space, informed by both personal experience and professional training.
Before becoming a TMLP, I worked in various roles across the mental health field—including schools, community agencies, residential programs, and clinical settings. These diverse experiences have shaped my perspective and strengthened my commitment to providing inclusive, client-centered care.
My approach is rooted in multicultural and developmental frameworks, while also incorporating elements from the interpersonal process model and evidence-based treatment modalities. I also draw from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support clients in building practical skills for emotion regulation, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and healthy communication. I also prioritize building an emotional vocabulary with clients, as being able to name and express what we’re feeling is a powerful first step toward understanding and managing emotions more effectively.
As a Temporary Master’s Limited Psychologist (TMLP) in the state of Michigan, I am under the direct supervision of Julie M. Davis, Ph.D., LP.
