A quote that speaks to me is:
“You have everything you will ever need in you.”
This quote, written and spoken in different ways across many publications, encompasses the journey for healing from within. Finding the ability to be resilient during dark and challenging trials has personally led me to overcome and break through personal barriers.
My interest in mental health was sparked by growing up around family members navigating psychological challenges, as well as by my experiences in the military and education systems. These experiences now guide my work with adults (usually in the age range of 22-40) who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, questions related to racial or gender identity, or concerns about meaning and purpose.
My clinical training includes practicum experience at Washington Writer’s Academy and internship experiences at Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital and Meredith Psychological Testing & Services. I take a client-centered approach to therapy that emphasizes equity and diversity, encouraging clients to explore how their identity and culture can shape their mental health. I am committed to creating a supportive, trusting environment where clients feel seen and understood.
Through my own experience in therapy, I have learned that being present, attentive, and genuine are some of the most important ways to understand another person’s story. I focus on learning each client’s personal narrative and perspective so that we can work together toward goals that feel realistic and meaningful.
I earned my master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University. I am a Master’s Limited Psychologist (MA, LLP) in the state of Michigan. As an LLP, I receive ongoing supervision from a fully licensed psychologist, Julie Meredith Davis, Ph.D., LP.
